Tax Benefits to Small Businesses Offering Employee Health Insurance

Traditionally, small businesses in the USA conveniently strike employee health insurance off their list of benefits. However, the Affordable Care Act is changing this scenario.

The Affordable Care Act is creating a mutually beneficial relationship between all parties involved - small businesses, healthcare industry, government, and the society at large.

As per a report by Kaiser Family Foundation, there is a 9 percent increase in the number of small businesses (fewer than 200 employees) who offer health insurance to their employees in 2010 as compared to 2022. Even in very small businesses with less than 10 employees, 13 percent more employers are currently providing health insurance as compared to the 2022.

The primary reason for this increased coverage is the 35 percent tax credit available to a business on paying at least half the amount of an employee's premium. And this tax credit will increase to 50 percent in 2014.
